Letter from President:
Welcome! Welcome!
If you are reading this then I’m assuming you have just joined our group or are interested in us. So let me start by telling you a little about Etowah Valley Quilt Guild. We are a group of women and men who are interested in the art of quilting. We have members that are just starting their quilting journey, with maybe one quilt completed, and others with more than 40+ years under their belts.
Our guild started a little less than 30 years ago with a handful of women meeting to just hang out and enjoy sewing and chatting. Some of those members are still with us today.
We meet once a month, usually the 3rd Tuesday of the month in the evening at the Civic Center in Cartersville. During our meetings we will have a presentation by a nationally known speaker, a local quilt shop owner or a member sharing a special technique with us.
We have quilt camp, a 4-day weekday event, where you can bring your machine and latest project – or two – and sew and commune with other quilters. At the end of the day, you just walk away as your machine and supplies are locked in a secure room ready for you to start again the next morning.
We have a biennial Quilt Show where we can show our work to the public and encourage other sewers to join us. This event provides us with the money needed to pay for our programs and enables us to participate in local charity work such as Tranquility House for Battered Women, Quilts for Vets, and Hope Center.
Most of all we exist to share and grow our love of quilting.
I look forward to serving as your President, meeting new members and working with current members.
Sincerely,
Kathy Hill
