Community Service Projects

The Community Service Committee suggests and manages projects or donations for the guild to support local organizations. Donations are collected at our monthly guild meeting and be sure to get a raffle ticket for each donation you make. A special drawing is made for members who contribute.

Meals on Wheels

We create individual or sets of placemats to be distributed by the local Meals on Wheels volunteers. Recipients of their free meal delivery service are senior members of our community whose mobility is limited. There is no restriction on the type or style of placemat so this is a great opportunity to use up your scraps and try a new technique.

Backpack Buddies

There are many local kids who do not eat between leaving school on Friday and when they return to school on Monday. This project aids Cartersville and Bartow County school children who go home without the security of knowing they have enough food to eat over the weekend. For the safety and convenience of families who may be without electricity or a can opener, we are limited to a specific list of foods, including:

Beenie Weenies (7.75 oz. pop-top cans)
Spaghettios (7.75 oz. pop-top cans)

Beefaroni (7.75 oz. pop-top cans)
Applesauce & other fruit in individual serving packages
Raisins (1.5 oz. boxes)
Granola Bars (not cereal bars)
Fruit Rollups
Individual juice boxes
Easy Mac (in individual packages)
Ramen Noodles

Humane Society

We collect both dog and cat food, cat litter, and mats and beds for the animals coming out of surgery.
